Fall Check In From Ahimsa โจ๐๐ซ๐ค
/The Light is Changing, The Temperatures are Dropping
How's your Fall season going so far?
The colors in Wisconsin are stunning, rain or shine. The temperatures are finally dropping and it feels truly Autumnal. I made it to my favorite apple orchard before it closed for the season, pumpkins and squash and all my favorite Fall vegetables are at the Farmer's Markets. The holidays will be here before we know it!
Things have been humming along at the clinic. I got a proper Fall cold (lots of folks have gotten a proper Fall cold) and we took our Chinese Herbal formulas in order to remedy our phlegm and feel better swiftly <3
Seasonal Support
Once the temperatures drop it's not uncommon for joints to ache or muscles to feel more tight and stiff.
Often times people who suffer from headaches, migraines or chronic sinus issues have a challenging time with the swings in weather patterns and barometric pressure.
The common cold and any manner of flus or viruses can pop up and make it hard to function.
The waning light and the shorter days tend to impact us all on some emotional and energetic level. While mostly I maintain that these seasons are cozy and ripe for facilitating restoration, the pace of modern life rarely slows down in kind and can make it challenging to feel rested, easeful or vital.
Acupuncture Meets You Where You Are At
Whether that be in a Season of the Year of a Season of Life, Acupuncture is a modality that meets you where you are at in order to facilitate a greater sense of vitality and wholeness.
Have ever wondered why your Acupuncturist cares so much about taking your pulses??
Your pulse is actually the main diagnostic tool that helps me meet you where you are at <3
If your energy is low, your pulse will tell me.
If your nervous system is on high-alert, your pulse will tell me.
If digestion has been a little sluggish, your pulse will tell me.
If inflammation is high or fluids are weak - you guessed it - your pulse will tell me!
Your pulse tells me about the current state of Blood, Qi and Fluids in your body as that pertains to the energetic, emotional and physiological functions of all of your organ systems. It informs what acupuncture points I choose in order to best support your body with what it might need to regain a sense of balance and a reduction in your symptom presentation.
Millie Gets Acupuncture!
A bit of a pivot, but I'd like to share a recent story.
By now many of you know that one of my two beloved felines, Millie (pictured above), gets acupuncture from Dr. Lynne at Harmony Vet. While she's an expert at flicking the needles out as quickly as possible, her regular treatments have markedly improved her symptoms. Very recently she started sounding very congested, I could hear her every respiration, I was concerned.
We visited her Holistic Vet where she gets both Western and Eastern care for a variety of diagnostics (she was all clear!) and then she had an appointment at her usual clinic to see what else could be done.
After one acupuncture treatment with her sinus points and acupuncture points that treat Phlegm-Damp, she was the clearest she's been in years! I was so pleased with her results, so relieved and so thankful. Kitties get phlegmy, too!?
This is a testament to the effectiveness of Acupuncture but also a great reminder that our furry loved ones can benefit from the excellent care of trusted professionals in the Madison-area. Big thanks you's to Dr. Lynne Dennis and Dr. Michelle Weidenkopf for their expertise and gentleness <3
Wishing you and your loved ones a gentle Fall as we approach the holiday season!
